Pediatric Dental Care for Infants, Children and Teens

Pediatric dental care covers everything your child’s smile needs from the first baby tooth through the teen years — checkups, treatment for cavities and injuries, and extra support for kids who need more time or comfort. Dr. Jason Brock, a board-certified pediatric dentist, cares for infants, children, and teens here in Clear Lake.

What pediatric dental care covers

A child’s mouth is always changing. Baby teeth come in, do their job, and make way for permanent ones — and every stage raises new questions for parents. Pediatric dental care is built for exactly that. It pairs regular cleanings and exams with a close eye on growth and development, so small problems get caught while they’re still small.

It also means care that fits the child in the chair. A wiggly toddler, a shy seven-year-old, and a busy teenager each need something different from a dental visit. Our whole practice is set up around those differences — from how we explain things to how long we let a nervous kid take a breather.

A dental home from the very first tooth

We want to be your child’s dental home — the one familiar place where their history is known, their worries are taken seriously, and their care connects from one visit to the next. That idea shapes how Dr. Brock practices. He looks at the big picture of your child’s overall well-being, not just their teeth.

You'll notice it in the small things too. Parents are welcome back for exams, checkups, and cleanings; for pediatric treatments, it depends on the procedure and type of sedation. The office has a play area and large-screen TVs to take the edge off waiting, and we explain what we're doing in plain English, so you leave knowing exactly what's happening and what comes next.

Problems we help parents handle

Some visits are routine, and some start with a phone call that begins with “so this just happened.” We see both every day. Parents come to us with teething trouble, first cavities, thumb-sucking questions, a tooth chipped on the playground, and the kind of dental anxiety that makes even walking through the door feel like a big ask.

We also evaluate feeding and latch struggles in babies that may trace back to a tongue- or lip-tie, keep an eye on how bites and spacing are developing with orthodontic screenings, and adapt visits for children with special healthcare needs. Day to day, most of it comes down to prevention — and wherever your family lands on that list, the next step usually starts with one appointment.

Not sure where to start?

Start with your child's age and what's going on today. If your baby hasn't seen a dentist yet, book a first dental visit — the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends one by age one, or within six months of the first tooth erupting. If something hurts, broke, or got knocked out, head straight to our emergency page or just call. And if you're simply not sure, call anyway. Pointing families in the right direction is part of the job, and we're glad to do it before you ever book anything.
