Orthodontic Care for Kids and Teens

Orthodontic care at our office means watching how your child's teeth and jaws develop, catching alignment problems early, and guiding you to the right treatment at the right time. Dr. Jason Brock, a board-certified pediatric dentist, offers Spark aligners in Clear Lake and refers to trusted specialists when braces are the better path.

What Pediatric Orthodontic Care Covers

Orthodontic care for kids starts long before anyone talks about treatment. It's the steady watching — how baby teeth make way for permanent ones, how the jaws are growing, whether the bite is coming together the way it should. Crowding, unusual spacing, crossbites, and bites that don't meet properly (what dentists call malocclusion) all leave early clues, and spotting them early is most of the battle.

This is where pediatric dentistry and orthodontics meet, and our role in it is honest and specific. We screen, we monitor, and we offer Spark aligner therapy when a case truly fits it. When a child needs braces-level treatment, we say so and point you to the right specialist at the right moment — no guesswork, no pressure.

The Advantage of a Watchful Dental Home

Nobody sees your child’s smile more regularly than we do. Development gets checked at the visits your child already has, which means changes get noticed as they happen — not years later when they’re harder to correct.

There’s another advantage worth naming: we don’t sell braces. When Dr. Brock recommends monitoring, aligner therapy, or a referral to an orthodontic specialist, the recommendation has nothing riding on it except your child’s bite. And if a referral is the answer, we coordinate with the specialist and stay your child’s dental home the whole way through.

What We Watch For as Your Child Grows

Some things we track at every visit: crowding as permanent teeth arrive, gaps that aren’t closing, crossbites, front teeth that jut or don’t meet, baby teeth lost too early or overstaying their welcome, and the slow-motion effects of thumb or pacifier habits on a growing bite.

When it’s time for a closer look, we’ll recommend a focused orthodontic screening — our office suggests one around age 6 — or sooner if something catches our eye or yours. Most screenings end with reassurance. The rest end with a plan made early, which is exactly the point.

Wondering About Your Child’s Bite?

Bring us the worry — the crowding you noticed in a school photo, the tooth coming in sideways, the question your pediatrician couldn’t answer. A screening tells you whether it needs action now, watching for later, or nothing at all. Whatever the answer is, you’ll get it straight.

Our process

From Watching to the Right Treatment

Watch

Bite and alignment get checked as part of your child’s regular dental visits, so development is never a mystery.

Screen

When it’s time — or when something catches our eye — a focused orthodontic screening takes a closer look at how everything is coming together.

Decide Together

Dr. Brock lays out what he sees and what it means: keep monitoring, treat with aligners if the case fits, or refer for specialist care. You get the reasoning, not a pitch.

Follow Through

If your child is referred, we coordinate with the specialist and keep regular dental care on track here throughout treatment.

FAQ

frequently asked questions

A screening is how you find out — guessing from the mirror doesn't work well, because much of what matters is happening under the gums. Many kids don't need anything yet. Some just need watching while their jaws grow. Some are good candidates for Spark aligners here, and some genuinely need braces-level treatment, which we'll refer to a specialist we trust. Either way, you'll get a straight answer and the reasoning behind it.
