Your Child’s First Visit To Our Clear Lake Office

Your child’s first visit is an opportunity for your family to get to know our Clear Lake team. During the time we spend together, we encourage you and your child to ask questions, express any concerns, and share with us anything you’d like us to know to help make your little one’s care as individual as they are.

When you walk in, you will be greeted by a member of our friendly team who will show you and your child to the dental chair. You will be able to stay with your little one throughout their appointment. We will perform a comprehensive, non-invasive oral exam of their teeth, gums, mouth, and jaw. Depending on your child's age and state of dental health, digital x-rays may be taken to give Dr. Brock a more detailed depiction of their oral health. Next, we will gently clean their teeth and gums.

Once a pediatric cleaning has been performed by one of our gentle, friendly hygienists, Dr. Brock will review your child’s exam results and x-rays (if any were taken) and talk with you about their findings. If any issues are found, Dr. Brock will work with you to develop a healthy, effective treatment plan that best meets your child’s dental needs, your budget, and your schedule.

At What Age Should I Bring My Child to the Dentist?

According to the ADA, your child should see their dentist as soon as their first tooth erupts, or when they turn 1 year old, whichever comes first. This allows Dr. Brock to track their oral health from a young age and catch any issues while they are still small and easily treated. Also, the sooner you bring your child int our Houston pediatric office, the more familiar they will be with the process of going to the dentist. If they grow up going to the dentist every six months, it will be a normal part of their routine, lessening or even eliminating any potential for dental anxiety.

What to Bring

To make your visit as streamlined and simple as possible, make sure you bring the necessary information with you to your appointment:

  • Insurance Information - If you have dental insurance, be sure to bring your insurance card or information with you so a member of our team can take down your information and help you maximize your benefits.
  • List of Medications - Part of getting to know your child and providing safe, personalized support involves reviewing their medical history. Certain medical conditions and medications can influence treatment protocols – so you will be asked to provide a medical history and list any medications and their dosages (including vitamins and supplements).
